The urgent and shrill sound of alarms filled the air above Treyna City.
A dazzling red light constantly flickered on every street in the city, reflected on the faces full of inexplicable terror.
Unusually large numbers of high-ranking powerhouses rose into the sky, staring in shock at the slum that seemed to have a piece of ground removed, and also at the towering Treyna Skyscraper in the southern part of the city.
This skyscraper was the stabilizer of the entire city.
Two hundred years ago, the ruler of the city had used it against the rebels and never used it again thereafter.
This time, the skyscraper was activated at the fastest speed, but, its target wasnât the enemies outside the city, but the densely populated slum within the city. It was firing on its own people!
This tremendous shift was so shocking that everyone could hardly believe what they were witnessing.
Inside the command center, Minister of Intelligence Hiltonâs mouth hung open, unable to close for a long time.
After standing dumbfounded for a while, he nervously looked at the Alliance Chairman Cass, âYour Excellency, have you gone mad? There are millions of poor people in the slums! How many people will die?!â
If the operation to capture âNumber Oneâ resulted in the deaths of only a dozen or a few tens of poor people, they might be able to explain it to the citizens;
But this time, the laser from the skyscraper bored a gaping hole several kilometers wide on the ground. The number of casualties will be at least upwards of 100,000!
The lives of 100,000 people, just, gone in a flash?
He didnât dare to think about how the global community would condemn this, as it will definitely cause a worldwide uproar.
However, Chairman Cass merely shrugged, seeming utterly unbothered.
Hilton was his confidant. He transmitted confidentially to him, âSo what if there are over a million? Theyâre just excess population. Itâs a waste of resources to keep them.â
âButâŠâ
âNo buts. Donât forget, the slums are the oppositionâs voting power. Eliminating these rioters will be greatly beneficial for my next election.
Otherwise, why would I use such a powerful weapon just for a âNumber Oneâ?â
âUh, alright.â Hilton sighed.
There was indeed nothing more important to a politician like Cass than âvotesâ.
Only, he had not expected that Cassâs considerations when dealing with the âNumber Oneâ issue would mainly center around votes. This made Hilton feel a bit cold inside.
Chairman Cass patted his shoulder and said to all those present in the conference room, âRegardless, we have successfully eliminated âNumber Oneâ. All of this is worth it! May God bless Lun Kete.â
After that, Cassâs golden net-like projection gradually disappeared from the conference room.
Given the magnitude of what had happened, he needed to go back and issue a press conference to clarify, as well as explain the threat posed by âNumber Oneâ, to give an account to the citizens.
After the Chairman left, Hilton and the others looked at each other in silence, unable to find the words to speak.
âŠ
But what Chairman Cass did not know was that the skyscraperâs laser beam failed to kill Su Yu.
While they were in the meeting, Dawn Star had been eavesdropping on their discussion through the [Star Realm Beacon] and related everything she heard to Su Yu.
Upon learning of Bobbyâs exposure, Su Yu understood right away that they couldnât stay where they were for much longer.
He casually threw a [Cleansing] at Bobby, then entered [Invisibility] mode and ran towards the outskirts of the slum as quickly as possible.
Dawn Star used [Stealth], perched on Su Yuâs shoulder, cast speed-increasing skills to enhance Su Yuâs movement speed and cast concealment spells to minimize the chances of Su Yu being discovered by others.
From Bobbyâs exposure to the moment the Treyna Skyscraperâs laser beam was fired, they had approximately 50 seconds.
In these crucial 50 seconds, Su Yu managed to run out of the slum without getting hurt.
âŠ
Hushâhushâ
In a remote back alley, Su Yu stopped, leaning against a wall, panting heavily. A look of surviving a calamity was on his face.
Behind him was the billowing smoke from the massive explosion.
The whole process was too thrilling!
Thankfully, Dawn Starâs [Star Realm Beacon] could detect the enemyâs movements. Otherwise, when the âGolden Giant Eyeâ at the top of the skyscraper fired the laser beam, he could only rely on using [Ice Barrier] and other life-saving spells to bet on whether he could survive.
Even if the [Ice Barrier] really could block the laser beam, the wave of magic released during the spell casting process would attract Skru powerhouses from across the city. By then, he might not even have time to use the [Hearthstone] before getting hacked to death amidst the chaos.
Thinking back on it, he really was lucky to be alive!
However, in addition to feeling lucky to be alive, Su Yu was also livid, âThese Skru people are freaking mad! Iâm just here to buy some stuff. Iâve paid in gold, and they didnât lose out, so are the repeated attempts on my life necessary?â
âNemesis.â Dawn Star used her kitten paw to rub her face. âDid you forget that you sank their floating island?â
âOh, right⊠But thatâs not important.â Su Yu replied, âBobby worked tirelessly for us, running around for four days straight, and now heâs lost his life in the slums in such an unclear manner. We must take revenge for him!â
Dawn Star lay on Su Yuâs shoulder. Although she wanted to make a sarcastic remark about the âCleansingâ that Su Yu had left Bobby with when he left. Although she thought about it, she didnât say it out loud.
She turned her head to look at him, âNemesis, how do you plan to get revenge?â
Dangerous glint flickered in Su Yuâs eyes, he asked back, âDawn Star, do you remember the three plans we made over the last few days? I intend to carry out the third one!â
Since arriving in Treyna City, Su Yu and Dawn Star had deliberated and formulated three plans:
Plan One: Ruin the Treyna Skyscraper.
When they had devised this plan, Su Yu didnât know that this skyscraper was actually a weapon; he thought it was simply a residential building.
The skyscraper housed millions of Skru people. If Su Yu could locate the load-bearing structure of the building and destroy it, the skyscraper would collapse, causing hundreds of thousands of casualties at least.
Plan Two: Infiltrate a high-society dinner in the Lun Kete Alliance.
Many of the wealthy people in high society didnât have talents and, although they were very rich, they personally were not powerful.
If Su Yu could disguise himself and infiltrate a high-society dinner, he could use [Mind Control] to manipulate a wealthy person or two into handing over their money to buy more and better high-tech products.
Plan Three: Bomb the floating island again.
After the fall of the floating island, it was sealed and suspended 40 kilometers north of the city by the God Level powerhouse Sidim.
But the Spiritual Energy in the barrier was extraordinarily large and getting increasingly violent. If it stayed sealed for a long period, it could very likely break out of the seal and cause a second explosion.
Left with no other choice, Sidim occasionally had to open a gap in the seal to release some of the violent Spiritual Energy inside, maintaining a temporary balance.
What Su Yu had to do was break through the barrier and break this balance, triggering a second explosion on the floating island!
Considering the current situation, the first plan was difficult to execute. The Treyna Skyscraper had just demonstrated its might, which would certainly have drawn attention from all parties. Going there to blow up the building now would be most challenging;
The second plan could be executed, but it could not be considered ârevengeâ.
Therefore, he decided to execute the third plan, making the Skru people face the terror of a floating island explosion once again!
